My family is huge, adding from my father’s side and my mother’s side. My father’s family is much bigger than that of my mother’s. My family from my mother’s side all live in Masaya, where I live, so that is the reason I have closer contact with them than with my father’s family.
When my grandmother, (my mom’s mother) was alive, every Saturday afternoons we went to her house and visit her. Every event or party that we had we did there. I loved to go and visit my grandma because she was nice and always wanted the best for me and the family. Every Saturday I went to her house I would tell her hello and spent some time with her. All my family did the same, we all went to visit her to her house and spent time with her. If it was possible we would go on Sundays after lunch and spent time with her. I felt joyful to go to see her because I saw how pleasant she felt that went to see her, she felt that she was the center of our attention, (really she was) and that we had not forgotten her. She was so especial to me because she had helped raise me when I was just a baby, and she had been a great mother and to me she was the best grandma ever on earth.
My family has some traditions one of them is to celebrate every single family member’s birthday. We all gather together and celebrate each birthday. That is the only moments were the whole family gets together to talk, discuss and plan our trips and to enjoy ourselves. It is something beautiful to see a whole family together sharing and having some time with each other, it is simply gorgeous. I always get cheerful and excited when it is somebody’s birthday. This are the only days and moments in which I can see and speak to all my cousins. I like to chitchat with them because they always make me laugh and are always talking about computers, subject that I like, because I like technology and computers. They are always on top of the latest computers, video cards and computer processors, and all kinds of things. This is a tradition that my family has had for decades and that we continue doing because its important for a family to be united as one. For me the union of the family is an important element that must exist in a family, because the union makes force, a unstoppable force.
Our family is very but very united. It is strange but that is my family’s tradition. We still continue that tradition, that way we will never forget our past and origins and who we are as a family, a real united family.
